Dichotomy
Much of what we experience in life is truly good but, some experiences are negative. ‘What does not destroy us, makes us stronger’ and shapes our collective psyche. The point is that we should count our many blessings and even be grateful for negative experiences which help us grow in understanding. As Americans, we enjoy more liberty, security and peace than any people in the known history of the world. Until recently, we have been free to choose our own lifestyle as long as it does not infringe upon the liberty of another. For the most part, we have been a self regulating people governed by a maxim that says: “Whatever is not illegal, is legal.” Now we see that our government is imposing regulations simply to extract our substance from us and the trend is to legal only that which is permitted. Since its inception in 1776, outside observers refer to our system as the Great American Experiment. With some notable exceptions, this system has worked well for over 200 years. Of all our great accomplishments is the defeat of the Nazi and Japanese war machines in World War II; an impossible war fought on two fronts. Liberating Europe brought a world wide sense of gratitude for American intervention. Let me emphatically state my gratitude for all veterans who have faithfully served this country, for without them, surely we would be speaking a foreign language.
As a follow up to WWII, it was America that reconstructed war torn Europe and
Japan. America prospered during the reconstruction era because, like during
WWII, there was popular support for, and confidence in, the mission of America
to “save” the world. Literally, we brought freedom to our distant relatives,
with whom we shared common ancestors. That’s right, as the quintessential
melting pot of ethnic diversity, Americans began to share it’s wealth, ingenuity
and work ethic around the globe with our distant cousins.
Since its adoption, over 100 countries have adopted the U.S. Constitution as a
template for their social contract, most of which occurred after WWII.
Americans, as ambassadors for world peace, were greeted with honor and respect
until some individuals became pushy and greedy and the Ugly American Syndrome
developed sometime in the 1960’s. This ugly side of America was fostered by
those who no longer believed in God, but began to worship the modern idols of
prosperity.
Like many great empires, our indolence, born of the “Change” to a Godless
society, is likely to bring us down. There are those who celebrate affluence
ahead of the One who created us and this will be our down fall, because the Lord
can no longer bless those who refuse to worship Him.
It was a miracle that the U.S.A. came into existence in the first place; a
miracle that a rag-tag bunch of agrarian revolutionaries defeated England, the
greatest world military power at the time. All this was done in order that we
might have personal liberty. So what have we done with that liberty? Is it human
nature that causes people to rest on their laurels when they have attained a
goal? Worse yet, is it human nature to turn on the One who supported and
sustained us so that we might be victorious over the wickedness of such a great
evil as the Axis Powers?
Certainly, we are here because our forefathers made sacrifices to ensure a
better life for us. They did it for us, just as we must do it for the rising
generation. But, we see vast moral corruption in what Glen Beck has dubbed the
“We” generation. These are our children and grandchildren who are lost souls,
living without a moral anchor in their lives, who have been taught by the
communist party and by their teachers and their peer group that their family is
the “community” and this because their parents abandoned them for the worship of
money, sports and/or the pleasures of this life rather than focusing on the
family.
History teaches that freedom comes at a price. The dichotomy is that there are
those out there with the entitlement mentality that want everything to be a
“free lunch.” What is it in human nature that the more prosperous we become, the
more we turn away from the source of that prosperity to follow false idols that
have no life in them? Why is it that work is not fulfilling and satisfying to
some? What is so attractive about the gods of pleasure, sports and recreation
that large segments of the population are willing to substitute them for the God
of life? Isn’t He the One who sets in motion our creation and the universe and
breathed in us the breath of life? What am I missing?
Gratitude for our God who protected us and strengthened the arm of our
forefathers through all the wars and conflicts of the last 200 years, would seem
to be essential to our very existence.
Frankly, we need to take our country back from those who are seeking to dominate
and control us, the hard working middle class. When we see that we are being
enslaved by a government bent on creating criminals out of honest, hard working
citizens, it is time to take action. That day has arrived and there are many out
there calling for action. So, faced with this dichotomy, that many of our loved
ones are caught up in this new order of things, what do we do?
Let me offer a simple yet do-able alternative: join us, a small group of
individuals who believe that we can still bring sanity back into our government.
There is an organization that is being formed right now known as Citizens for
Decency in Government (C-DIG). There are no dues as this is not about money. It
is about standing for principles, lending your name to appeals for decency and
demanding that our elected and appointed government officials follow the
Constitutional law and protect the Constitutional rights of the governed. The
job of this group is to investigate government misconduct and issue press
releases, make presentations on the Internet and face off directly with public
officials who have engaged in misconduct, holding them responsible and
accountable for their actions. (Examples of how this can work will be given in
future articles).
There is another group, a sister organization, that is also being formed
entitled Citizens Against Government Tyranny (C-AGT). This group presumes that
the acts of a government which takes away the Constitutional rights of its
citizens is no mistake, rather, these are the acts of tyrants. This group also
presumes that the only solution is removal from office of those involved. The
job of C-AGT is to expose governmental misconduct and demand the recall, removal
or firing of any governmental official who refuses to uphold the U.S.
Constitution, which is the promise contained in every oath of office in this
country.
